A meaningful change to our standard scope

Effective September 2025, every Adam SEO retainer tier — Focused, Standard, Premium, and Elite — now includes AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) as core deliverables. This is a permanent scope expansion, not a limited-time offer. There is no upcharge for existing clients.

This is one of the more meaningful changes to our service scope since we formalised the 4-Stage / 9-Step Framework. Here’s why we did it.

What changed in the search landscape

Through 2024 and the first half of 2025, a quiet shift happened in how Malaysian buyers actually interact with search:

  • Google AI Overviews (SGE) now appears for a substantial portion of commercial queries in Malaysia — including “near me” queries, comparison queries, and informational queries that previously drove blue-link clicks.
  • ChatGPT Search and Perplexity are now standard tools for B2B buyer research. Our B2B clients report buyers arriving at sales calls with citations from Perplexity or ChatGPT already framing the conversation.
  • Gemini inside Google products (Workspace, Maps, Search) is starting to surface branded responses for branded queries.

Classic SEO still drives most conversion volume. But the research stage — where buyers compare, evaluate, and decide what to click — is increasingly happening inside AI-generated answers. If your brand isn’t cited there, you’re invisible for that part of the funnel.

What AEO / GEO work actually covers

This isn’t a rebranding exercise. The deliverables are concrete:

Entity audit and knowledge-graph alignment. We audit your brand’s presence in Google’s Knowledge Graph, Wikidata, and other entity sources. We identify missing references, inconsistent entity signals, and gaps that prevent AI answer engines from citing you confidently.

Schema expansion. Full deployment and validation of FAQPage, HowTo, Organization, Person, Product, and Breadcrumb schema across every relevant page. AI answer engines rely heavily on structured data when choosing citations.

Answer-ready content restructuring. Priority pages get rewritten with direct-answer paragraphs at the top, clear definitions, and structured sub-sections that AI can lift cleanly. This is distinct from classic SEO content briefs — the formatting demands are specific.

E-E-A-T signal build-out. Author bios with real credentials, Person schema, expert reviewer attribution, transparent methodology. AI answer engines rank citation-worthiness partly on these signals.

Citation tracking. Monthly reports showing where your brand is getting cited across SGE, ChatGPT Search, Perplexity, and Gemini. We combine third-party tools (Profound, Otterly, Peec AI) with manual sampling.

Why now — why not wait

Three reasons:

1. The cost of catching up is higher than the cost of pre-building. Entity signals and schema coverage take months to accumulate and validate. Brands that wait until AI search is “fully mainstream” will be 6–12 months behind competitors who started earlier.

2. AI answer engines reward early-established entity profiles. Citation patterns tend to favour brands with deeper existing entity graphs. Late entrants compete harder for the same citation slots.

3. The overlap with classic SEO is substantial. Much of the work (strong content, clear schema, E-E-A-T) also strengthens classic search rankings. The marginal cost of AEO on top of existing SEO is smaller than running it as a standalone programme later.
