Honest answers to common questions
Everything Malaysian buyers ask us about SEO — timelines, costs, methodology, and what we will and won't do.
General Questions
How long does SEO take to produce real results?
For most Malaysian SMEs we expect early traction within 3 months (technical fixes, Map Pack movement), meaningful ranking lifts by month 6, and compounding revenue growth from month 9 onwards. Anyone promising faster is either fluking a low-competition keyword or setting you up for a penalty.
How is Adam SEO different from other SEO agencies in Malaysia?
We report on leads and revenue, not just rankings. Our 4-Stage / 9-Step Framework integrates Conversion Rate Optimization from Stage 2, so organic traffic actually converts. And we have been doing this since 2011 — we have lived through every major Google algorithm update.
Should I invest in SEO or Google Ads?
Usually both. Ads deliver immediate traffic but disappear when you stop paying. SEO builds an owned asset whose cost per lead drops every month. We commonly recommend a hybrid approach where Ads capture urgent intent while SEO builds compounding organic visibility.
What is AEO / GEO and do I need it now?
AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) are how you get cited inside AI-generated search answers like Google's SGE, ChatGPT, and Perplexity. If your business serves B2B or research-heavy B2C buyers, yes — they are already asking AI. Since September 2025 we integrate AEO into every retainer tier.
Do you guarantee rankings?
No reputable SEO agency can guarantee specific Google rankings — the algorithm is not ours to control. What we do guarantee is a documented, frameworks-driven process and full transparency on what we are doing and why.
Do you offer a free consultation or audit?
Yes. Submit a request via our Request Proposal form and we will run a free discovery audit on your site and competitive landscape before any commitment.
Who will I work with day-to-day?
On Standard and Premium tiers, your day-to-day contact is our SEO Specialist Mat, with founder Adam Yong on monthly strategy. On the Elite tier you get a direct monthly strategy call with Adam.
Which industries do you work with?
We have delivered for e-commerce brands, local service businesses, professional services firms, and enterprise clients with regional operations. The framework is industry-agnostic; what changes is keyword research, competitor analysis, and content strategy.
Pricing & Contract
How much does SEO cost in Malaysia?
Our retainers start at RM 2,500/month for focused scopes, with Standard at RM 3,500, Premium at RM 4,500, and Elite at RM 9,500. Cheaper providers exist but typically ship low-quality mass-produced content and links that hurt you long term.
Is there a minimum contract length?
We recommend a minimum 6-month engagement because SEO results compound over that window. Shorter engagements tend to produce the audit/setup deliverables without the ranking payoff.
Local SEO
What makes local SEO in Malaysia different from international local SEO?
Malaysian businesses need category precision on Google Business Profile, Malaysian-directory citations (Yellow Pages MY, StreetDirectory), and multilingual considerations (EN / BM / occasionally ZH). Also, WhatsApp-click tracking matters more here than in most markets.
E-commerce SEO
Should I focus on Shopee/Lazada or my own store's SEO?
Depends on your margin structure and brand plans. Marketplaces give volume but compress margins and rent your audience. Own-store SEO builds equity but takes longer. Most of our e-commerce clients run both, with distinct strategies for each.
Technical SEO
How do I know if I have a technical SEO problem?
Common signals: your indexed page count in Search Console is much higher or lower than your sitemap count, your Core Web Vitals report flags LCP or CLS failures, your rankings fluctuate wildly week to week, or a site migration preceded a traffic drop. Any of these warrants a technical audit.
